Many resources in the community provide services which may be helpful to crime victims. The listing below is a collection of some of these resources.

Toll-Free Phone Numbers

Victims of crime can contact the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Service’s INFO-LINE at 1-888-887-3418. Callers receive information about their rights under Virginia’s Crime Victim and Witness Rights Act, as well support and referrals to programs and resources in their community. The INFO-LINE utilizes interpretation services to serve victims speaking over 170 different languages.

Victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking, can contact the Virginia Family Violence and Sexual Assault Hotline at: 1-800- 838- 8238 (V/TTY) for information, support, and referral to local sexual assault crisis centers or domestic violence programs. Assistance is available 24 hours a day.

Victim of crime who are considering filing a civil lawsuit against their offender may wish to contact the Virginia Lawyer Referral Service, a project of the Virginia Bar Association, at 1-800-552-7977 for assistance in locating an attorney.

To discover other resources that are available near them, victims can dial 211 to be connected to Virginia 211.
